SEARCH ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONSAn "ordinance" is a rule or regulation enacted by the Board of County Commissioners. All ordinances must be presented to the board twice for consideration before adoption, on first and second readings. Once adopted, the Clerk assigns a number to each ordinance, which is codified in Miami-Dade County's Code of Ordinances.
A "resolution" is a policy developed by the Mayor, a member(s) of the board, or a County Department and presented for the board's adoption. Unlike an ordinance, which must be considered by the board twice before adoption, on first and second reading, a resolution requires only one reading before adoption.
