What is a “collection fee”
• A “collection fee” is an additional charge added to your outstanding balance when a case is referred to a collection agency for nonpayment.
What Is Not Removed:
The original court fines, fees, and citations are still owed. The removal of the collection fee does not erase or reduce the underlying court obligations. You are still responsible for paying off your remaining court-related fines and fees, traffic, or parking tickets.

Although the Clerk of the Court and Comptroller does not issue parking citations, we manage all parking citations issued by law enforcement officers and parking enforcement specialists of Miami-Dade County, as well as those issued by municipalities enforcing the Miami-Dade County Parking Code. This includes overseeing citation processing, payment collection, and related compliance procedures to ensure adherence to the county's parking regulations.
Parking meters in Miami-Dade County are managed by individual cities/municipalities.
The most important first step is to double-check that the license plate (tag) you entered into your parking app – such as PayByPhone, ParkMobile, or others – matches your actual plate exactly.
Here are a few things to look out for:
Incorrect tag entry: Technology only works when the correct tag is entered. It’s your responsibility to make sure the information is accurate.
Letter O vs. Zero (0): In Florida, license plates do not contain the letter “O” – only the number ”0”. It is a common mistake that can lead to citations, even if you paid.
Paid in the wrong zone: Sometimes customers pay for one zone and park in another. This is especially common in the City of Miami Beach.
Payment Time: Verify the time on your receipt. If the citation was issued before or after the paid time, the citation is valid.
Please note that our office does not have access to parking payment apps or city parking permit records. These are handled by the individual municipalities.
If you believe you paid and none of the above apply, you may request a court hearing to dispute the citation within 30 days of the issue date. The good news is that hearings are held via Zoom, so you can attend from home or during a break at work.
If you wish to contact the issuing agency, below is a link to contact them. Please be advised that you are still responsible to comply with your citation within 30 days.
