comptroller audit operations
The Comptroller Audit Operations Department (CAOD) serves as the independent audit and oversight function of the Miami-Dade Clerk of the Court & Comptroller. The department conducts objective, risk-based audits and reviews to promote accountability, transparency, and responsible stewardship of public resources across the Clerk’s Office and Miami-Dade County government.
CAOD evaluates financial, operational, technological, and compliance activities to ensure that internal controls are effective, public funds are safeguarded, and operations comply with applicable laws, policies, and contractual requirements. The department also provides management advisory services to help departments strengthen processes, enhance efficiency, and improve service delivery.
As part of the Clerk’s constitutional duties as the County’s Auditor, CAOD performs audits of County programs, agencies, and external entities that receive or manage public funds, including contractors, vendors, and grant recipients. The department works collaboratively with County leadership, external auditors, and oversight bodies to support integrity in government operations.
Through independent assurance and professional audit standards, the Comptroller Audit Operations Department helps protect the public interest and ensures the responsible, ethical, and transparent use of Miami-Dade County resources.
